Deutsch-Amerikanischer Tag

[dropcap style=”color: #9b9b9b;”]I[/dropcap]t’s German-American Day today.

If you’ve been following along with our blog for the past few years, you know this day is a pretty big deal at our house. Ever since we first learned about this official holiday in 2010, we’ve turned it into a Family Fest, a celebration of our family and our blended cultures.

There was the big outdoor dinner on our porch.

Then there was the trip to an Oktoberfest farm.

And then there was the open house we held last year for our local friends, which was complimented by friends and family sharing their German-American Day observations over social media with pictures of giant beer steins full of authentic Bavarian brew or plates of weiner schnitzel and spaetzle.

It was so much fun, and I was really unsure how we’d ever top it.

But of course, for this year, we’re making a valiant effort.

We used cereal boxes for the set!

Inspired by Miss C’s recent movie-making innovation, Martin, Miss C, Lola, and I worked together to create a video to depict our German-American lives.

We also incorporated a major family announcement, too.

Watch and see if you can identify it!

I’ll share pictures and more information tomorrow!

Wir wünschen euch einen schönen Deutsch-Amerikanischen Tag!!
