Martin visited his family today, and was given this photo album with the instructions to give it to me.
“Julie will appreciate this the most.”
It’s full of photos of his mother’s family from the 1950s. Photos of how they rebuilt their lives after the war, during which the older three were young children. Martin’s mother was the baby of the family, a later-in-life surprise not unlike our Junior. There are photos of simple family moments, holidays, and vacations around various parts of Germany.
I’m so proud of my reputation as the family historian, and grateful for the opportunity to preserve this history for my kids and their cousins, and the generations that follow.
